As the production of automobile increases every year, the demand on roads and highways also increases. With this problem, The United States invested in infrastractures such as highways and bridges throughout the country, allowing the people to live beyond the city limits. Land developers began to buy land outside the city and developed affordable houses for people who want to live outside the city. At the end of the 1950s, one-third of Americans lived outside the city.
